This is to attract youth from the southern parts of the state to the Indian Armed Forces. This demand was made by the state government at a liaison conference held between the Army and civil administration at the secretariat.
Major General D.V.S. Rana and seven other senior officers took part in the conference. Home Secretary Asit Tripathy and Chief Secretary A. P. Padhi also participated in the conference representing the state. The issue about the need of a recruitment office was raised by Mr. Padhi. He also requested the Army to set up a Brigade headquarters at Amarada to attract more youth from the southern parts of the state. Furthermore, Mr. Padhi requested the Army officials to consider relaxation of the selection criteria for the tribal people as well.
Mr. Tripathy said that the Army had taken less youths against the State’s quota during last year’s recruitment. “We have requested them to carry forward the balance quota and organize more recruitment rallies in the state,” Mr. Tripathy said in a press release, further adding that the district administration would provide all support to the organization.
