Indian Army Invites Candidates for the Grant of Short Service Commission

The officials from Indian Army recently issued a recruitment notification inviting eligible and interested unmarried male and female candidates for the grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Indian Army in all Arms/Services. The officials said that the widows of Defense Personnel are also eligible to submit applications for the above-mentioned grant.

Candidates who are planning to apply for the grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Indian Army should take note of the fact that the course will commence at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in the month of October. More details about this recruitment program are as follows.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals who quality the below-mentioned eligibility conditions will be able to submit applications for the grant of Short Service Commission (SSC).

  • Candidates who are Indian citizens.
  • Candidates who are from Nepal and Bhutan.
  • Tibetan refugees who came to India with the intention of permanently settling in the country before January 1, 1962.
  • An individual of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan, and East African countries with the intention of permanent settlement.

Age Limit

Interested and eligible applicants who are planning to submit applications for the grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Indian Army in all Arms/Services should be above the age of 20 and below of the age of 27 years as on October 01, 2018. On the other hand, the age limit set for the widows of Defense Personnel who died while serving the country is below 35 years as on the said date.

It is significant to note that the officials from Indian Army will be considering the date of the birth entered in the Matriculation certificate or in an equivalent exam certificate of the candidates. This means that the candidates will need to show either one of these certificates to confirm that they are in the said age group. Candidates should also note that subsequent request to check other documents for age verification will not be granted.
