Senapati ADC Chairman, ML Markson, and Deputy Commissioner, C Arthur W. flagged off the mega recruitment rally conducted by the Indian Army at Senapati public ground earlier this week. ARO Col. Mukherjee, SDSA General Secretary Newman, Mao SDPO Tholu Rocky, SDC Duna Duo, SP K Kabib, and Brigade Colonel Bisht attended the flag off ceremony.
Approximately 2,000 youths from Imphal East and Imphal West attended the rally on the first day. Though the recruitment rally held on Monday was exclusive for Thoubal district candidates, recruitment officers hinted that approximately 13,000 candidates would take part in this mega rally in the days to come.
SP K Kabib guaranteed that elaborate security measures are adapted by the district police in Senapati for the candidates participating in the recruitment rally. He also added that the local police and recruitment officers would not tolerate any unlawful activities from the participating candidates.
A toll free number is also provided for the candidates to call the officials during emergencies. The candidates will initially have to undergo a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT) as a part of the recruitment process. Candidates who clear these levels would be allowed to attend the Common Entrance Exam, which will be conducted on November 27, 2016.
Army officials pointed out that the least number of candidates are from Ukhrul, Tamenglong, and Chandel districts. They also acknowledged that the poor internet connectivity in these regions might be the reason for this low attendance in the Army recruitment drive. Officials also praised the efforts of civil bodies and District Administration of Senapati and urged the youth to take the recruitment program seriously.
Candidates who are planning to apply for the post of Soldier General Duty through this Army recruitment rally must have an aggregate of 45 percent in SSLC/Matric and a 33 percent in all individual subjects. However, candidates who have cleared 12th standard can apply irrespective of their mark percentage.
Intermediate 12th pass candidates, who possess 45% aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, can apply for the post of Soldier Technical. Candidates, who have done three years in diploma and have an aggregate of 50% marks in class ten, can also apply for this post.
Applicants who wish to join the Indian Army as Soldier Tech (Avn & Amn Examiner) must have an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, and a 40% in all individual subjects. However, the percentage mark in Class-XII is not a criterion for B.Sc. Degree (Zoology/Botany/Bio-Science) candidates.
