According to the notification, both men and women can apply for the post. The candidates should have passed their final MBBS (Part-I &II) exams, either in the first attempt or second attempt. They are also supposed to have completed an internship for grant of Short Service Commission in Armed Forces Medical Services.

The Indian Army recruitment office has published a detailed list of eligibility criteria on the website and candidates are advised to go through it before applying for the posts. The first requirement is that the applicant should have medical qualification as per the First/Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule of IMC Act 1956. Secondly, the applicant should hold a permanent registration from any State Medical Council or MCI. You will be eligible to apply for the post if you are a postgraduate degree or diploma holder of MD, MS, MCh, DM, DNB, DM, DLO, DOMS, or DA.
The Army recruitment office has also mentioned about the internship program. It states that only those who will be completing the internship by 31 March can apply for the post. There is also an age limit as well– if you are exceeding 45 years of age as of 31 Dec 2016, you would be disqualified from applying for this post. After the applications are shortlisted, a face-to-face interview will be conducted at Pune.
