The Indian Army conducts recruitment rallies across all states of the country to select candidates to serve in its various posts. The army recruitment rallies are the largest in the country by a governmental body. Indian army frequently organizes such rallies to recruit candidates to serve in its soldier as well as Junior Commissioned Officer, Havildar, and many other posts. The process of selection is done based on strict screening of each candidate to determine whether they qualify for the posts.
The army has formulated specific eligibility criteria to effectively determine whether a candidate is eligible for the position. Educational qualification, age, and physical standards are the major aspects that determine the eligibility for the army recruitment process. Below are some of the major eligibility criteria to take part in the recruitment rallies conducted by the Indian Army.
The educational qualification is the primary criteria for determining whether a candidate is eligible for applying to a certain post or not. Successful completion of the 10th standard is the basic educational qualification required for candidates who are applying for the soldier posts (General Duty and All Arms) and for Soldier Tradesmen (All Arms). For other soldier posts, successful completion of the 12th standard is necessary.
For the post of Survey Automated Cartographer (Engineers), candidates must be a graduate in any degree like BA/BSc, with mathematics and Science as major subjects in the 12th standard. Candidates who have obtained graduation in any degree can apply for the post of Junior Commissioned Officer Religious Teacher (All Arms). In addition, they need to have a necessary qualification in their respective religious denomination.
For Junior Commissioned Officer Catering (Army Service Corps), the basic qualification is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam followed by a Diploma or Certificate Course of one-year duration in any hotel management and catering course from any recognized university. Havildar Education (Army Education Corps) requires a group X qualification of MA/MSc/MCA or BA/BSc/BCA.
Age limit is the other major eligibility criteria for participating in an army recruitment rally. The age limit for the Soldier post is between 171/2 to 23 years. However, for Soldier (General Duty) (All Arms) the preferred age limits for candidates is between 171/2 to 21 years.
The physical standard for the candidates comprises many aspects such as minimum height, chest and weight measurements. The physical standard measurement varies according to the many factors concerning to different regions across the country.
